alright I'm gonna ask, does the professor in your redesign look like a Tumblr sexy man
Tumblr media
Retired and enjoying the Dad-life, Utonium's just a chill dude. Not sure about the sexy part.
tbh he's more worried about the fact Buttercup just threw another car at Morbucks this afternoon and now the Townsville Public Library is in flames...again.

The Clown Car Chronicles (Part 1)!;
Tumblr media
Summary: The Utoniums move to Gotham and meet Gotham's most beloved family.
For @verieriberries based on this post. Sorry I tried. I'll do my best to add more later.
“The City of Gotham. It's home to some of the top research labs in the world.” Professor Utonium said, driving the family station wagon to their newest address.
“Yeah, but why are we moving there?” Bliss mumbled displeased from the passenger’s seat as Gotham came into view.
“Well, I took a job offer at Wayne Enterprises’ lab. And we have to move here for me to work there.”
“Oh. That makes sense.” Blossom piped up from the backseat, looking up from her book.
“Well, I think it sounds stupid.” Buttercup huffed. Arms crossed.
“Now that's something I can agree with.” Bliss muttered in agreement, before putting her headphones back on.
All while Bubbles looked out the rearview mirror with Bullet and Bunny, all of them sporting frowns as Townsville got smaller and smaller the closer they got to Gotham.
“....Bye-bye, Townsville…” The blonde sighed, sadly, holding Octi close to her chest.
“And if what I’ve heard is true, Gotham is a great place to live.” Professor added, trying to sound reassuring.
------------------------------------------------------------
Only Bunny looked like she believed him.
Which... given what happened the last time their family moved, was more than a little fair.

PPG Headcanons I Plan On Incorporating In My Fics
Elmer is albino, and he still has his glue powers. He's done quite well keeping it under wraps thanks to Professor Utonium and his pen-pal, Dexter.
Ms. Bellum is Princess Morbucks' maternal aunt. Penelope (Princess's mom, Sara's sister) and Sara were close as could be from a typical middle class family. That all changed when Penelope started dating Roy Morbucks. Ms. Bellum never liked the guy but her parents could be happier. The final nail in the coffin was when Penelope announced their engagement, and the two haven't spoken since her wedding day.
Prior to moving to Townsville, Mr. Morbucks had business in Townsville; some of it legal, but most of it wasn't. With the Powerpuff Girls being the beloved superheroes, it'd only be a matter of time until someone hired them to look into Mr. Morbucks' establishments and discovered his criminal underbelly. He decided to take Princess and enroll her in the very same kindergarten as the Powerpuff Girls to be her eyes and ears. He didn't expect her to become a supervillain out of spite, but he decided to fund her endeavors as a distraction.
Mitch has a tumultuous family background. His mom is dead, his dad's an alcoholic whose constantly in and out of jail with a different girl of the week living with him in the trailer, and his grandmother is hospitalized. Once Professor Utonium learned of this, he allowed Mitch to spend the night whenever he felt the need to. The constant exposure to the Powerpuffs allowed him to become friends with Blossom and Bubbles, closer with Buttercup, and a nicer person overall. He's still rather rebellious but he's no longer a bully. His interests are motorbikes (or any kind of car) and animals, surprisingly. He helps the volunteers to look after Twiggy during the summers on Monster Isle, who helps keep the monsters away from Townsville.
The Gangreen Gang (minus Ace, obviously) are a few of the aforementoined volunteers. Much to Buttercup's chagrin, Mitch and the reformed Gangreen Gang are on good terms.
Beebos are outlawed in Townsville, Farmsville, and Citiesville. All of them have been relocated to Monster Island. Mitch also helps keep an eye on the population and their feeding habits during his volunteer work over the summer.
I can't decide if I want one of the Rowdyruff Boys or the Gangreen Gang to illegally have a Beebo, but one of those former delinquents definitely has one and are trying their hardest to keep it a secret lmao.
I've spoken about him here but Barnaby Mayer (aka "the Mayor") had been embezzling money from the city of Townsville for years. He came from a rather poverty stricken background and originally wanted to become mayor to help change Townsville for people like him. His newfound greed got to the better of him, and a certain someone close to him who I don't want to spoil just yet only helped push him further. Deforestation only allowed the growth of Townsville's infrastructure, at the expense of Fuzzy's property. Bribes from rich corporations in Townsville allowed the Mayor to turn a blind eye to wherever they dumped their toxic waste, which affected the Gangreen Gang and mutated the Amoeba Boys as their part of the city became the city wasteland. Sedusa's own court case was even rigged in the research lab's favor as a deal; the Mayor offers them funding and in exchange, they keep quiet about what he asks of them (future questionably unethical Chemical X experiments to extract a weakness against the Powerpuff Girls, silence on the ozone layer of Townsville and the radiation/pollution from monster waste, the Antidote X handcuffs, testing other animals which lead to the creation of the talking dog, White Kitty, and Roach Coach, etc). Most of Townsville's infamous villains link back to him (I got the idea from this post in particular, I just expanded on it).
Speaking of Sedusa's court case, I spoke a great deal about her here. Her real name is Annalise.

So here is Part 1 of me summarising the issues in the QLD state election that's literally tomorrow. In Part 1 we rank where the parties stand on Abortion rights.
First the status quo. Abortion is legal in Queensland & is treated as a medical issue rather than a criminal issue. It can be acquired, no questions asked, up to 22 weeks into a pregnancy. After 22 weeks, you need the approval of two licensed medical practitioners. Safe zones of 150 metres exist around providers to prevent protesters from hassling staff, clients or families of clients.
However, despite this legal right, in practice, it's difficult to obtain an abortion in rural/regional areas. Pregnant individuals often need to travel great distances & spend money they may not have on accommodation & fuel, to get access to the nearest provider. Someone in Mt. Isa might need to travel to either Emerald (a 12 hour car trip or 4 & a half hour plane trip) or Cairns (12 & a half hour car ride or 2 hour plane trip) to get access to a provider. A person in Charleville would need to travel over 5 & a half hours to Emerald or 8 hours to Gladstone/Rockhampton. If you live in Weipa, hope you can afford the 9 & a half hour car ride or 1 & a half hour plane trip to Cairns. Mt Isa should be big enough for it's own clinic. Charleville is smaller, but you could place a provider in Roma, which is only 3 hours away rather than 8 hours. Note that I only listed one-way trips, so realistically, you need to double all travel times listed as people need to get back home.
For anyone amazed by the time listed to travel places. This is normal in QLD. Everything is far away. Our state is big. A person travelling from Weipa to Cairns is going southeast while someone going from Mt Isa to Cairns is going north-east.
A trip from Weipa to Brisbane is 29 hours driving assuming no breaks (please don't try that). There's a train connecting Mt Isa to Brisbane that takes 28 hours for those unwilling to drive a bit over 20 hours (assuming no breaks). Realistically, almost everyone travelling from Weipa, Cairns, Mt Isa, Birdsville or even Mackay to Brisbane is taking a plane unless they're a Gray nomad.
Part 1 - Abortion
So this is ranked from worse to best
Worse = KAP (Katter's Australia Party), Family First.
These two parties both openly want to recriminalise abortion. Yes, that "r" isn't a typo. The KAP & Family First have it in their party platforms that they both seek to wind back the clock & make it a crime again.
I assume they aren't thinking of merely winding back to 2017, when abortion was technically in the criminal code, but it wasn't enforced. More likely they want to turn back to the 1970s-1980s where under Joh Bjelke-Petersen the criminal provisions that were only technically repealed in 2018 were actually enforced.
Of these two, the KAP are by far the bigger threat. They have 4 MPs, none of whom are likely to lose their seats, with an outside chance of gaining a fifth seat. Meanwhile, Family First only matter for preference flows (we have preferential voting here, so voting for parties that can't win a seat in their own right isn't the waste of time it would be in the USA).
Moreover, the KAP have announced that they will put up a private member's bill to recriminalise abortion immediately after the new parliament is sworn in. Have I mentioned all the KAP MPs are cisgender men. I should mention that.
Team Sneaky = LNP
The likely victors of tomorrow's election. The talk is about if the ALP can ring-fence Brisbane or not. No one is pretending that the towns of Cairns (3 seats) , Townsville (4 seats), Gladstone, Mackay, Rockhampton or Harvey Bay (each of these is 1 seat) are staying in the ALP fold. As the LNP are the likely victors of all but Rockhampton (where Independent Margaret Strelow has a good shot), they will form government. Therefore, the LNP will likely decide abortion access insurance state for the next 4 years.
The LNP have gone for plausible deniability by stating that they won't introduce a bill to recriminalise abortion. However, that doesn't matter as we know the KAP is introducing that bill instead. What they have is a so-called "conscious vote" on abortion.
It's a fact that 93% of LNP members voted against legalisation in 2018. That 93% includes the current Opposition Leader, David Crisafulli. We also know that quite a few of the new candidates in winnable seats are anti-choice. A conscious vote in an LNP majority government means that even if 1-3 members vote to keep the existing laws, the 4 KAP members will be enough to counter that & guarantee that abortion is recriminalised.
The only reason Crisafulli is even trying for plausible deniability is because he knows most voters are pro-choice. Support for abortion rights has remained stable at 75-80% of the population for my entire lifetime. There's a reason enforcement ended well before the official decriminalisation in 2018. It would be difficult to find a jury
Status Quo = ALP
So this is where our miracle shot happens & somehow the polls are wrong & the current government is maintained.
Now the status quo is still flawed. I want better. Abortion accessibility shouldn't depend on where in the state you live. A poor person in the regions shouldn't have fewer options than someone in the SEQ or Townsville (even Mackay doesn't have an abortion clinic). But when compared to a prospective recriminalisation, it's necessary to defend what we got now & ask for better afterwards.
Improved Access = AJP & Greens
Both of them promise to expand access. That's the optimal outcome, so we list it here.
I will probably not get around to releasing Parts 2 & 3 before the vote counting begins, so let's say this now. I was an overall ALP/AJP voter. But we have to number all the options in our system so the rest of the ticket was harm minimising. Cannabis Party don't particularly appeal to me, but it's also not crossing any of my political boundaries, so they got 3rd. Then came the jerk parties. As disgusting as the Greens antisemitism is, the LNP are a threat to both abortion rights & trans rights, so I prioritised my own survival (I'm a transwoman) & the survival of my cis female friends & cousins in this state. That puts Greens 4th & LNP 5th. The KAP don't have a candidate where I live, so I didn't have to rate them. Family First are Christian extremists who hate trans people & abortion rights & want to make the place go under fundamentalist Christian leadership. They got 6th, because somehow, One Nation still exists, which is even worse. One Nation is a cesspool of racism & manosphere garbage & are the biggest threat to my Mum's entire side of the family.

hi this is some fanfic I was writing for myself and never planned to post ever but in the dead of night I rewrote the entire first part so you guys get to have it!! it also makes no sense btw bcz it was meant for only my eyes B)
The City of Townsville. Even squeaky clean utopias like itself have grimey underbellies. Kept out of the good citizens' way. Confined to one small point in the giant metropolis. Just big enough that people know to steer clear. Even villains like the Gangreen Gang stayed away, unless they were chasing trouble.
So seeing the wimpiest Gangreen dragging his raggedy converse through the unkempt streets all alone was strange to say the least. If you asked Snake however? He wasn’t Gangreen at that moment— just another no one who wanted to be alone. And alone he was, the rest of the gang was who knows where while he was here.
Here. Snake wasn’t that braindead, he knew walking around this part of Townsville was just begging for something bad. He learned that the hard way. But if he kept his head down and weaved around anyone bold enough to be here he’d be fine. That's exactly what he did. The brown ash-stained hoodie he had on kept his face from view. His long greasy curtain of hair definitely helped him stay hidden. Although the occasional catcalls he got were annoying.
Why was he even here? Why was it that times like this, when he found himself so alone his feet always seemed to carry him through here? Maybe it was because he fit in so well with the other rejects. Sirens somewhere in the distance caught his attention. Or maybe it was ‘cause cops wouldn’t see him smoking. Not that he really cared. But he’d be damned if he lost another pack of smokes.
He took a deep drag of his cancer stick. It was almost to the filter. A distant memory of how his first time smoking went tugged itself to the front of his mind. Snake smiled at the bitter memory. He sighed, it was getting dark. The lanky gangreen decided to start his walk back to the dump. It was a long walk from Townsville to its local dump and just so much longer from the bad side of Townsville to the dump. By the time Snake walked through the open barbed wire gates the moon was high in the sky.
‘Wonder if I’ll be the last one there’ He lit his third cigarette, convincing himself it was needed. ‘Or if that powerpuke is even gone yet’
Snakes feet dragged as if they were weighing him down. Showing up while the girl was still at their hideout would make Ace so mad. Not to mention the little girl herself. He shuddered in disgust but kept walking.
It wasn’t long before he saw The Gangreen Gangs shack— it was all lit up inside. He saw the silhouette of a small figure with short hair immediately.
“Damnit.” Snake couldn’t go in there. If not for the ass kicking he’d surely get then for the fact he’d lose his lunch.
There wasn’t really anyplace else for him to go. Back into the city seemed overkill. Further into the dump seemed like a bad idea.
Snake took in his surroundings— the piles of trash near the shack. Nearby was a car half buried under other junk he found a few days ago. That's where he’d wait. Skillfully he navigated around all the crap surrounding him. Truly the rusty blue car wasn’t far from the shack at all. Its door swung open with a creak as he climbed into the somewhat comfortable front seat.
His thin hands rested atop the cars’ steering wheel, all he had to do was wait.
‘Maybess I can hotwire thiss hunk of junk..’ He felt like it would be relatively easy— then again what did he need a car for?
The gangster tipped his head back. His eyes fell onto the scenery outside. Or more specifically the sky, it was a clear night and a few stars even dotted the inky blackness. It was pretty for a cities nighttime skyscape. His eyes fell down to his hands. He flicked the filter of his cancer stick away. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew the smell was all over him. Cold night air blew in from the window. Chilling the boy even through his hoodie. He rubbed his hands together in hopes of getting even slightly warmer. Maybe a beating would be better than freezing his ass off.
Just as he thought of leaving he saw a trail of green shoot through the air, fading quick as it came. The girl was gone. Snake however lingered in his spot. Knowing he would in fact be the first one back was daunting.
The walk back was shorter. Time warped and forced him right onto the sagging wooden porch.
Smoke Break (chapt 2)
Nope. Being alone with Ace? The guy beats him to a pulp when people are around. When they’re alone? It’s been a long time since it happened last, Snake vaguely remembers a lot of drinking. And his lips holding a purplish hue when he wiped the lipstick away.
He lit another cigarette, keeping the flame lit longer than he needed, watching light dance across his hands until it was too hot and he flicked it off. The gangster found himself leaning against wobbling wooden rails. It was still cold as balls and it looked like rain. If it snowed he was royally screwed. What to do? There wasn’t a right answer. Not when both choices would end up with him riddled with regret.

What are your headcanons for the Gangreen Gang’s past lives?
Ace: Grew up relatively poor in Citiesville in a tiny apartment with just him and his mom; his dad was never in the picture and may or may not even know he exists (and even if he did, he was never interested in being a part of his life and would've been a pretty terrible father if he was so maybe it's for the best). He struggled a lot in school both socially and academically, which created some tension between him and his mother.
All of this only got worse after his mom died in a car accident when he was ten and was placed in foster care, where he experienced a great deal of various types of abuse. He ended up falling behind a year in school at some point, which is how he and Snake ended up being in the same grade when he was placed in his final foster home in Townsville before running away for good.
Snake: Is the only member of the Gangreen Gang to be born in Townsville. Out of everyone in the gang he had the best upbringing on paper: he grew up in a wealthy home, both of his parents were present in his life, and he was a good student, even skipping a grade. But his father was often emotionally and at times physically abusive towards him, mostly due to the fact that he was the most visibly different in the family; he had bright green skin, spoke in a lisp that made it sounded like he hissed, and in general was a socially awkward, gender nonconforming, anxious mess. Basically the antithesis of what his father believed a "real man" should be. Because of this, his father dismissed him at an early age and put most of his stock in his daughter, Ivy, who he both spoiled and put a lot of pressure on into being "the golden child."
Later on, when Ace transferred to Snake's school, their relationship started out rough but over time they became very close friends, to the point of developing mutual feelings that neither one of them ever fully acknowledged. As Snake grew closer to Ace, he grew more rebellious and distant from his family, and because of this, later on when Ace asked him to run away with him, he agreed. Snake's parents found him within a few days, but refused to take him back in because his father 1) realized that his son was gay and couldn't accept that, and 2) decided that if he was old enough to choose to no longer wanted to be a part of the family, he was old enough to live with the consequences of those choices (despite being like, 12 at the time).
Lil' Arturo: Born and raised in Mexico with his father, Macho Arturo, his mother Maria, and his three younger sisters Conchita, Teresa, and Rosalita.
Arturo's story is unique in the fact that his family was a relatively happy and loving one, though they also struggled the most financially. When Arturo was only ten, his father got a call from his cousin Diego in America with an offer: come over and live with him, help with "the business," (aka selling drugs) and you'll be able to make enough money to support yourself, your family, and live comfortably. Diego didn't have enough room to keep the entire family, plus there were other logistical issues that kept all six of them from leaving together. So Macho and Maria made a deal; he'd take Arturo, the oldest, and she'd stay behind with the three girls. Neither were happy about this arrangement but agreed because they were desperate.
When Macho and Arturo got to the States, he quickly realized how dangerous his cousin's business was but at that point he was stuck. He did his best to keep his head down, make as much money as possible, and keep Arturo out of it. However, this plan quickly blew up in his face after Diego killed someone in a drug deal gone wrong and framed him for it. He got sentenced to thirty-five years to life in prison, and had no choice but to leave his son in the care of his cousin. After Macho was behind bars, Diego wasted no time in trying to force Arturo to take on his father's role in selling his product, and if he refused he would be beaten or locked out of the house.
Shortly after Arturo got caught and arrested for selling coke to some older kids in the park, he was thrown in juvie where he met Ace and Snake, both already living on the streets at this point. Ace ended up being assigned as his cellmate and quickly took him under his wing. After they were released, he invited him to come and live in the dump with him and Snake and he accepted. He hasn't seen Diego since.
Big Billy and Grubber: Their backstories are the ones I've dived into the least and I don't want to go too deep into anything to avoid possible fic spoilers or contradicting myself later, but the gist of it is:
They both grew up on Monster Isle and were friends before joining the gang
They joined around the same time and were also the last members to do so
Grubber is an identical triplet but got separated from his brothers at some point, but reunited later on which led to him moving back and leaving the gang
Big Billy's full name is William William Williams lol
I don't see Billy's parents as being particularly cruel like some of the others, just... kind of clueless?
Same with Grubber's. It's totally possible they both just ran off one day and their parents were like hey, wasn't there another kid we were supposed to be taking care of??
I think the culture of raising kids is a lot more hands-off in general on Monster Isle, to the point of looking neglectful to outsiders.
They are also the only members of the gang who have truly never been to school before (aside from the Schoolhouse Rocked episode)
Grubber was barely able to speak at all before joining the gang, but learned through old movies and Jane Austen novels. Along with some help from the other gang members, particularly Snake.

How to Get the Best Deal for Your Scrap Car in Townsville
Selling a scrap car is not just about getting rid of an old vehicle; it's also an opportunity to make some quick cash. If you’re in Townsville and have a car that’s no longer running or is too expensive to repair, you might be wondering how to get the best deal for it. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to maximize the cash you receive when selling your scrap car. This guide will walk you through the process, from understanding your car's value to choosing the right car wrecker and negotiating the best price.
1. Understand the Value of Your Scrap Car
Before selling your scrap car, it's crucial to understand its value. Several factors can affect how much you can get for your car, including its weight, the current price of scrap metal, the condition of its parts, and the overall state of the vehicle. Cars with more salvageable parts, such as working engines, transmissions, or tires, will generally fetch higher prices.
To get a ballpark figure of your car’s value, consider using online car valuation tools or consulting with local mechanics or car experts. They can provide an estimated price based on your car's details. Knowing your car's value will help you set realistic expectations and provide you with a baseline for negotiations.
2. Choose the Right Car Wrecker in Townsville
Finding the right car wrecker is essential for getting the best deal for your scrap car. Not all wreckers offer the same prices or level of service, so it’s important to do your research. Look for reputable car wreckers in Townsville who have a track record of fair pricing and good customer service.
Start by checking online reviews and ratings for car wreckers in your area. Positive reviews can indicate a reliable buyer who will offer a fair deal. Also, ask for recommendations from friends or family who have previously sold scrap cars. Comparing quotes from multiple wreckers can help you find the best offer. Some wreckers, like Wreckers Townsville, provide free towing services and quick cash payments, making the process easy and convenient.
3. Prepare Your Scrap Car for Sale
While scrap cars are often sold as-is, preparing your car for sale can sometimes help you get a better deal. Start by removing all personal belongings and any non-standard accessories that you want to keep. Clear out the glove compartment, trunk, and any hidden compartments.
Having all the necessary paperwork, such as the car’s title, registration, and any maintenance records, can also make the sale process smoother and faster. Although a clean car isn’t a requirement when selling to wreckers, it can create a better impression and show that the car has been well-maintained, which might help in negotiations.
4. Negotiate for the Best Offer
Negotiation is a key step in getting the best deal for your scrap car. Once you have received multiple offers, use them as leverage to negotiate a better price. Be upfront about the quotes you’ve received from other wreckers and see if your preferred buyer is willing to match or beat them.
Highlight any positive aspects of your car, such as new tires, a recently replaced battery, or intact, valuable parts that could be resold. While negotiating, it's important to be assertive yet realistic. Understand that car wreckers also need to make a profit, so striking a balance between your expectations and what they can offer will help you reach a fair agreement.
5. Understand the Benefits of Choosing Local Wreckers
When selling your scrap car, opting for local wreckers in Townsville can offer several advantages. Local businesses like Wreckers Townsville often provide quick and hassle-free services, including free towing and same-day cash payments. This saves you the trouble of finding a way to transport your scrap car to their yard, which could otherwise be costly and time-consuming.
Furthermore, local wreckers tend to have a better understanding of the local market and are often more willing to negotiate a fair price. Many local wreckers also focus on eco-friendly car recycling practices, which means that you’re not only getting cash for your old car but also contributing to sustainable practices that benefit the environment.
6. Avoid Common Pitfalls When Selling a Scrap Car
To get the best deal for your scrap car, it’s essential to avoid common mistakes that could reduce your earnings:
Accepting the First Offer: Don’t settle for the first offer you receive. Take the time to shop around and compare quotes from multiple wreckers.
Not Doing Enough Research: Lack of research can lead to accepting a lower offer than your car is worth. Make sure you know the value of your car and the going rates for scrap metal and parts.
Overlooking Additional Fees: Be sure to check if there are any hidden fees, such as towing charges or administrative costs, which could reduce the final amount you receive.
By being aware of these pitfalls, you can ensure a smooth selling process and maximize the cash you get for your scrap car.
Conclusion
Getting the best deal for your scrap car in Townsville doesn’t have to be complicated. By understanding your car's value, choosing the right car wrecker, preparing your vehicle, negotiating effectively, and considering the added benefits of local wreckers, you can ensure a fair and profitable sale. Avoid common mistakes and take the time to compare offers to get the most cash for your scrap car. If you’re ready to sell your scrap car and want a quick, hassle-free experience, contact Wreckers Townsville today for a free, no-obligation quote!

A warranty on a used car can protect drivers from undetected manufacturer defects, which can reduce the cost of repairs or replacement parts. But how long is the warranty period for a used Ford in Queensland? Are there other warranties for Townsville used cars you should consider?

Well... I posted that last post a week late... As I'm currently in Townsville and got here as the start of this week.
Anywho, getting here was a whole mission in itself. I thought the hardest part leaving my hometown would be saying goodbye. But oh how I was wrong...
The roads were flooded due to the rain we have been getting, and I was left playing the waiting game to try and get here in time.
Tumblr media
We ended up planning to leave Saturday, but the roads were very much a river at that point. So me and my partner agreed to leave first thing Sunday morning. For the rest of the day I kept checking the road map to see if the road had opened yet as well as triple checking to see if there was anything else I needed to pack.
Sunday morning came and I was still waiting for the road map to update. I decided to go back to bed only to wake up 1 hours later. I decided to just scroll Facebook and that's when I saw it. News to say that the roads had been reopened.
Me and my partner sprinted out of bed and got ready. We ended up leaving at 9am and spent the whole day driving. Between cloncurry and Julia creek the road was the worst.
We end up driving to this roadworks area to find police and road workers on standbye. We proceed on through behind two trucks and are shocked to find the crossings are still very much flooded.
Tumblr media
Keep in mind we are only in a little ford falcon. A car that is very low to the ground. There is a saying in Australia "If it's flooded, forget it." There is also another saying "If it's flooded, floor it." It really comes down to the situation at hand...
Anyway, the first three river crossings we go through no hassle. The trucks in front parted the water just enough for us to get through. But it was the last river crossing that nearly took us downstream.
We watched the truck in front of us and saw half of his tires dissapear under water. Unfortunately the water crossings behind us were already rising and we were kind of in a critical state...
That and the fact if we were going to go we had to do it ASAP before the water rushed back in from the truck parting it.
Without a seconds hesitation my partner slowly floors it through and we felt the back of the car slip into the current . My partner quickly gets us out of there and we safely make it through.
After this, knowing full well how close we were at becoming a victim, we continue in through. The rest of the way was a breeze. The road is verytwrrible built, so often times I would have to tell my partner to slow down for the bump ahead in order to not hit and drag the bumper of the car along the road.
We got to charters towers by 4pm and decided to stay the night. The next day we left and drive to my new home in Townsville. Meeting my roomates and unpacking the car.
We spent the rest of the day driving around and learning the place. Getting some form of familiarity to it.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately the next day my partner had to fly back and it was definitely the start of one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.
I was sad, but not as sad as I thought I would be. I always imagined long distance to be super hard. I imaged myself crying all the time and not getting anything done as I would want to go back home. But... That doesn't seem to be the case.
I have done lots of things in my own thus far. Touring the campus on my own, going to the shops on my own. Even having my phone die on me and having to figure out how to get home on my own. All of these little things adding up to be big things.
I really do miss my partner. And I really wish he was here living with me. It would definitely makes things easier for me. But for the time being, that is far from possible.
The biggest struggle I'm having right now is finding a job. Money is running low fast. It's gotten to the point that I'm relying on my best friend to pay my rent. And I do not want that.
I didn't think finding a job in a city would be the hardest thing to do. But it definitely is. I have handed out so many resumes and have heard nothing back. I have tried to get youth alowence, but the government does not make it easy to claim.
I am planning to go to a place called headspace next week so that I can have some help and at this point someone to talk to. It's isolating living here. And I have zero support from my family financially.
It's been one tough week. But if I can land a job next week, things will slowly sort itself out. Fingers crossed I do 🤞.

Tumblr media
In the early 1990s, NAPA Auto Parts began opening stores in regional Australia, beginning in Western Australia. Today, this retail group has expanded to the east coast, opening an outlet in Townsville. The Townsville branch has been preparing for its grand opening for over five years. Located in the renovated Ashdown-Ingram building, the new store has expanded its range of auto parts Townsville and accessories. Customers can find everything they need for their car, from brakes to engine parts, from batteries to exhaust systems.
The town's auto parts store will have NAPA PROLink, an online system that offers real-time pricing information and inventory information. Through this system, customers can build their own quotes and order parts online, and they can even search for their vehicle's Log Book Service information. In addition, customers can also place orders and receive a quote in the same website. However, in order to take advantage of the NAPA PROLink feature, you'll need to subscribe to the service.

Oh I wasn't saying you did! It was just something I ran across online and thought it'd be funny when applied to them. And yes, ever since the crossover I've discovered I LOVE Acercup. I headcanon once her attitude and personality became too much for the mainstream population of Townsville, despite her good heart, she found a sense of belonging in the GGG. Out of curiosity, and forgive me if you've already said, what do you think the backstory for each GGG member is?
Oh, no problem.
Yeah, as much as she loves her sisters and the Professor, I don’t think she was meant to be part of a superhero team forever. I think she’s in a band with the Gangreen Gang 85% of the time and maybe she becomes a solo hero the other 15%. I really love the episode where they all try to go solo and become their own heroes. I don’t know if she’d go to to Mange, but I think the idea of going solo has been in the back of her mind since then.
As for the GGG’s backstories…
(Putting this under a read more because this might be long. Also, trigger warnings for mentions of child abuse, homophobia, and transphobia. I hope this doesn’t come across as super edgy, but I felt like they must’ve had rough lives before they all met.)
Ace’s mom left or died when he was really young and his father was really homophobic and abusive towards him. (In my mind, Ace is bi) Ace vowed never to become like him. He ran away from home when he was seven to live in the junkyard and never looked back. Snake had been in and out of foster homes since he was fairly young. Similarly to Ace, Snake was abused in part because he was forced to live with bigots. (I’m not really sure what I headcanon Snake’s sexuality as, except that he’s attracted to men and I really feel like he’s a trans guy) Once, his foster family almost killed him, but he fought back in self defense and they threatened to call the cops on him, so he left and hid in the junkyard for awhile. Grubber never met his family. They left him near the junkyard shortly after he was born. He has always wondered why.
Billy is a missing person. His family got a big group together from out of state to go visit this big amusement part in Townsville, but Billy wandered off and got lost. The carnival was fairly close to the junkyard and he ended up getting in through a hole in the fence and staying in this tiny shed. His family is still looking for him.
Arturo’s dad loved him a lot even though they didn’t have much, but he was wrongfully arrested and has been trying to prove his innocence for years. On the way to meet his foster family, there was a car accident and Arturo was the only survivor. The rest of the Gang found him and nursed him back to health. He was considered legally dead until the Gang took him to a hearing for his dad and he was witnessed at the trial. As for how they became green, after living in Townsville Junkyard for so long, they were exposed to a variety of chemicals over the years that altered their DNA in ways that even though haven’t discovered yet.

22. for reds 🤡
This is 100% not what you asked for (yet...👀), but I give you part 1 of what we're calling the Weird King AU. I'm turning this into a proper multi-chapter High School fic because I love you and I'd jump on any bandwagon for you.
xxx
Like most young, conventionally attractive Supervillains, Brick had made a bit of a habit of failing upwards. It was pretty easy in a town full of simpering morons content to project their own narrative assumptions onto him, and who was he to crush their dreams when they made his life a little easier?
For example, dating.
“You can tell me, you know.” His cute date, Tracy, sipped her milkshake across from him.
“Tell you what?”
She softened and reached her hand across the table. “Your tragic backstory. I’ll listen without judgment, I promise.”
Brick tried to think of something tragic, but it all seemed pretty underwhelming as far as Supervillain origin stories went. “You mean like how I was born in a toilet?”
She made an oh shape with her lips. “We all have those days where we feel like we were born in a toilet, Brick.”
He’d dated Tracy for three months before she broke up with him out of the blue in tears: sorry she couldn’t fix his baggage, she just wasn’t strong enough to handle all that tortured darkness, but she wished him nothing but health and happiness. Brick deleted her number from his phone and spent twenty whole minutes staring at the toilet in his bathroom, wondering what the lesson here was.
But everything changed when Mojo got out of prison and moved Brick and his brothers back to Townsville, where he enrolled them in the local high school alongside their former arch nemeses, the Powerpuff Girls.
Suddenly, everything Brick did pre-supposed ill intent. These people remembered him as the pest who had graffitied their local monuments and blown up their cars and endangered their children. They held no love for him, and at best they feared him. This was not Citiesville, where he’d been a tall, cold glass of Voss water in a sea of recycled Dasani.
He found himself thinking about his birthing toilet again as he stepped into the cafeteria alone and the conversation quieted down as his new classmates watched him from the safety of their tables. His next moves here were critical. He was no longer at the top of the food chain, but fear and mystery surrounding his origins and character gave him a certain power over his peers.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of social suicide, I will fear no cringe,” he said to himself.
The jocks were out. Capable though he may be, Brick was not much of a team player unless there was a blood contract involved requiring his participation on pain of satanic torture. The drama kids were also a hard pass, not because he thought drama was lame, but because they had barely noticed him walk in, and Brick did not have the energy to deal with people more self-involved than himself. Some of the unaffiliated tables could be safe, but without a good understanding of the nuanced social dynamics in the high school, he could be heading toward irreversible doom, and that was a risk he was not willing to take.
He saw his salvation just ahead. It was the only option, all else being equal. In an environment where he couldn’t be certain of his baseline status and potential for upward mobility, there was greatness to be had only by association and certainty only in the devil he knew.
Brick helped himself to the empty seat directly across from Blossom Utonium to a chorus of gasps and staring.
Blossom did not startle like her table mates had. She watched him critically behind a head full of bangs as she balanced her soup spoon in her hand. “Really.”
Brick unwrapped the burrito he’d purchased in the lunch line and brandished it before him. “Really.”
He took a bite of the burrito. It was not hot enough. The two girls to Blossom’s left whispered to each other about that bad boy and he’s hot, though.
Blossom daintily spooned soup into her mouth without spilling a single drop as she continued to watch Brick for signs of his imminent dark side transformation.
The guy next to Brick was brave enough to ask him what his next class was. Brick had a mouth full of disappointing burrito, so he passed the guy the printout of his class schedule in lieu of answering.
“Wow, all APs, huh? Hey, we’re in U.S. History together next period, nice. I’m Mike Believe, by the way. Brick Jojo, right?”
Brick didn’t answer him immediately on account of the burrito currently occupying his mouth hole, and Mike took it the wrong way.
“Oh, yeah, we all know who you are. Blossom sort of filled us in.” He winced like he’d inadvertently revealed a terrible secret.
Brick swallowed his food and washed it down with a gulp of water. “Saves me some time.”
Mike looked super relieved. “For sure! Hey, I could lend you my notes if you want to catch up. Gershwin’s giving a quiz on the Progressive Era on Friday, and she’s a hard-ass who definitely won’t care that you just transferred…”
Brick chewed on his lunch as Mike continued to talk at him about classes and other vaguely helpful, albeit uninteresting, information. But Mike seemed normal enough, a little chatty but not in an overeager sort of way. Blossom was no longer clocking his every move and seemed to be absorbed in her friend’s latest swim team cheating scandal, until Brick reached for his water bottle and she suddenly laser-focused on his wandering hand.
Her keen attention to him was honestly flattering, if expected. It was in his nature to be noticed, and in this narrow respect she was no different from anyone else whose head he turned. If she chose to feed her interest with the flames of suspicion, then it was no difference to him.
But if she was anything like him—and on a chemical level she was probably the closest to him that a person could get—he suspected it took tremendous effort to hold her full and sustained attention. The world they inhabited was as vapid and mundane as the humans that surrounded them, and even the most gracious of gods grew bored of worship. Which explained all the smiting and fucking and generational curses upon entire households in everything from Greek mythology to the Old Testament.
Brick was pretty deep into a fantasy of Blossom going full Ixion and the Wheel on the swim team when Mike tapped his shoulder. “You ready to go?”
It took him a moment to realize the bell had rung and he had a class to get to—AP U.S. History with Mike, apparently. Brick gathered his tray and his bag and followed Mike. When he looked back at the table, Blossom was already gone.
xxx
That whole first week was painfully boring. No one bullied him, or pranked him, or picked a fight with him, of course. But no one really approached him, either. His brothers were more determined to make an effort. Boomer announced he was trying out for the soccer team because there was no rule saying a Super with extremely well documented ties to active criminals and the forces of Hell couldn’t kick a ball around a field. Butch had gotten himself invited to a midnight screening of Snakes on a Plane in some rich kid’s home movie theater, but only after that same kid had accidentally spilled milk on Butch and burst into tears in front of a cafeteria full of Juniors and Seniors. Brick declined the invitation Butch extended to him. He had that AP U.S. History exam to study for on Friday, anyway.
He shared all of his classes with Blossom. Even in the classes where her assigned seat was behind his and he couldn’t see her, he could feel her lobotomizing stare at the back of his head whenever she glanced up from her notebook. And while Mike’s notes were perfectly adequate and the friendly gesture counted for more than the content (a gesture Brick would not soon forget), there was a far more efficient way to accomplish his goal of murdering the class averages while also taking the edge off his loner doldrums.
“Can I borrow your class notes?”
Blossom rose from her seat and pulled her hair tie out to re-do her extremely long ponytail. She held the elastic between her teeth as she worked. Her teeth were very straight, he noticed. Some pretty nice girl-teeth, generally speaking.
“Which class?”
“All of them.”
He watched her wind the elastic around her hair with quick, adroit fingers. “That’s a lot of notes.”
“You’re the top of every class. No point in asking anyone else.”
She moved toward the hall. He followed her out. “Why would I help you?”
A legitimate question delivered without venom. Unlike her sister Buttercup, who’d “run into” Brick after school on Monday and told him to watch his back, Blossom didn’t have to do anything but maintain a general proximity to make her superiority complex known. Which was the kind of flex he could fuck with.
“Isn’t helping people sort of your mandate?”
They had arrived at her locker, which she opened with enough force to rattle the hinges. “I help the helpless. Are you helpless, Brick?”
Brick smiled at her baiting. Had she ever actually said his name at a normal volume before? It sounded good even in her baseline bitch timbre. “Critically helpless. I’m the new student who transferred in the middle of the semester, and you’re the only person who knows me.”
A couple other students clearly trying to get to the lockers Brick was blocking hovered just out of reach. They whispered to each other, but neither of them actually worked up the courage to ask Brick to move. He ignored them.
Blossom rummaged in her locker for the binder she would need for the next class. “Make friends.”
“Working on it.”
The locker door slammed and she faced him. There was something confrontational in the way she held herself before him that kicked him in the nuts back in time thirteen years to their more uncouth days when all he wanted to do was destroy her so he’d be the only one. Now they were older and wiser and he actually did need her notes to study, so destroying her was not high on his list of priorities.
“You want to be my friend.”
“We have so much in common.”
“So do lions and hyenas.”
“Both are apex predators, so.”
She took a step closer and peered up at him. Brick did not move, although he wondered what was so interesting about his face. She probably just thought he was hot. She was probably as bored as he was. She probably—
“You have lettuce in your teeth.”
Brick pulled back and covered his mouth on instinct. God fucking damnit.
Blossom was already walking away from him by the time he’d picked the food from his teeth. “I’ll expect my notes back in mint condition before first period tomorrow morning.”
Brick pressed a fist against the lockers and quietly fumed. “Dumbass…”
“Um, sorry, but do you mind…?”
The student who’d been waiting for her locker space to clear up had her palms up as if to assuage a feral stray. Brick pushed off the lockers, but his fist left a dent where he’d unleashed some of his impotent self-pity. He looked back at the girl, and she shook her head.
“It’s fine! It, uh, it happens sometimes.” She pointed a couple lockers down to Blossom’s, which was dinged up worse than the others.
Brick stared at Blossom’s locker, and then back at the girl. Her narrow, dark eyes were wide, but not out of fear. She was waiting for something, and like an idiot it took him a moment to catch up. “You’re trying to make me feel better about fucking up your locker.”
She laughed nervously. “I mean, it’s really fine! You just looked so miserable for a second there, and I just thought…”
Great, he was moping so hard he had an audience.
The five minute warning bell rang, and a flood of students rushed past them on their way to fourth period. Brick stepped aside so the girl could get to her locker.
“Hey, you’re the new guy, right?”
The new guy, yeah. How quaint. Except, she was waiting for a response, which wasn’t the absolute worst thing that had happened to him all week.
“Brick,” he said. But of course, she already knew that, and she was just being nice.
“I’m Kim. Kim Chan.”
“Okay.” He didn’t have anything else to say to her, so he decided to get his shit and get to his next class.
“Welcome back to Townsville, Brick.”
Brick shoved his hands in his pockets and stalked off. It didn’t occur to him until later that Kim was the first and only person who had properly welcomed him back home.

Part 2: For some strange reason, I feel a sudden case of Deja vu, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ MsButterFingers has two fics and both made me cry so... for you. :) And lastly, "The notion of Loss" & "Paper Hearts" by Gold Scribbles. Paper hearts is the cutest Blues fic ever.Switching over to questioning you about anything and everything, tell us more about your fake dating au and plans!! And that is it. I hope you do well and hope you haven't read at least one of these fics so I can feel so proud of myself.! :)
Oh no! Idk if there was a part 1 to this ask but I never received it :(
I'll have to look up MsButterFingers. Idk if i've read anything by them yet, and that's pretty wild cause I've read a lot!! I love when fics make me emotional~ can't wait!
AND AHH OMG okay okay okay the Notion of Loss by Gold Scribbles is my fave fic like ever!!!!!! I love it, which is a big deal given how prominent the reds are in that fic because usually I stray from that pairing but ugh the author just fucking NAILS it. If i could ever write anything half as good I'd die happy fr fr
I rec that fic to everyone!! I left a review for it on ffn and the author actually replied, and I about died and went to heaven. It was like meeting a celebrity. I love all their work, but I don't think they update their profile much anymore :( so happy you mentioned them! FEEL PROUD OF YOURSELF YOU'VE READ ONE OF THE BEST AHHH! The greens in that story *killed* me and Boomer's characterization??? So good.
Fake dating au updates under the cut!
i don't have much of an update :( it's still just an outline, but here are some fun facts b/c i really can't wait to write this one
1) I love the idea of Buttercup in her "boyfriends" oversized sweaters, so that's featured heavily
2) I'm actually excited to write Blossom in this one. I'm portraying her as the stoic "doesn't emote often" character--like cool nerd, not the overachiever I usually write her as. I think I'm going for "burnt-out prodigy" lmao. Outside of that, I really don't have any plans for her. Bubbles is featured more prominently then she is.
3) i like making the greens huge dorks who go to great lengths to cover up their dorkiness. This story, as opposed to Buttercrush, shows more of Butch's dorky side. The whole point is the two greens finally get to see each other in a light that rumors/stereotypes/popular media doesn’t portray the other as.
So, Buttercup is the "stone-cold bitch one", but in reality, she's a very passionate and excitable young superheroine (who's overly competitive). She's just a little socially awkward and shy, is all, but she's always determined to help a person in need. She's also the youngest member of Townsville's only superbeing roller derby league (because in canon, the girls aren't the only people with superpowers and I've decided there's probably enough super-people to have super-people sports leagues)
Butch is the "promiscuous bad boy," but in reality he spends his weekends either camping/back-packing or building incredibly nerdy military models. I'm making Butch the Townsville version of an eagle scout BUT because he was "evil" (at one point) HIM had put him in Demon Scouts to meet like-minded children. Demon Scouts is just Boy Scouts, where they learn how to tie knots and match car derbies, but with 10x more blood rituals/sacrifices. (Imagine the delight BC will have finding the fam photos with little butchie in his little demon scout uniform, I'm crying it's so cute).
Butch doesn't mind too much that people think he's a whore, but it bugs Buttercup because she doesn't think it's fair to Butch
In line with Boy Scouts, I just found out in one of the ppg comics the girls were in "Muffin Scouts" and Buttercup only joined so she could eat the cookies, so i'll definitely be using that to my advantage.
4) All of the above is important because a major turning point in the story is Buttercup getting fed up with people assuming things about Butch, her, and their supposed relationship. Everyone thinks they'll break up because she's a "bitch" and he's a "whore," and she's like DAMMIT Butch I know we said we'd fake break-up today!!!! But they can't treat us like this!!!! We'll show them we're the best couple in the whole damn school by becoming Prom Queen and King
and Butch is like lol yeah ok--wait, what are we doing??
5) LOL I can't wait for Buttercup to "meet" Butch's parents. I don't plan on having HIM in this story, just Mojo. But Mojo being like what is she doing on my couch, in my living room, where I live??? Causally?? And Butch is like oh lmao yeah, sorry dad, this is my girlfriend Buttercup. You've met before, right??
And Buttercup--who's funny and a good sport, and love, love, loves fucking with mojo--is like oh lol sup mojo, absolutely love what you've done with the place, haha, anyway I'm boning the fuck out of your boy.
And Brick, Boomer, and Butch (b/c he kind of forgets for a second she's talking about him) are just like 🤣🤣AHHHHHH🤣🤣🤣 YEAH SHE IS
and mojo just straight up dies.

Robert Moss: First Day of School
“What is this?” Robert angrily demanded as he slammed a class schedule on the kitchen counter in front of Delta.
Without looking at him or the schedule he took a sip of her morning coffee and responded, “Those are the classes you’ll be taking starting next week. We know that you haven’t been going to school for some time, and I have decided that it would be best for the team if you also worked out your mind as well as your body.”
“Bu-but,” the young teen took a deep breath, “but I didn’t join the Alliance to go to school--I joined because I want to get to the same level as those on Team B and Team A!”
Delta looked down at him from the side, “As long as you remain dumb and ignorant you will never be on their level. You will go to Townsville High Monday to Friday, and you will not skip any of your classes. I have requested Adam and Zuri to keep an eye on you and make sure you are on the school grounds during school hours. If you do go to your classes there will be consequences, understood?”
Robert wanted to object but as he looked her in the eye he just frowned and nodded. He knew she was strong and a great leader, and he respected her commands even when he didn’t agree with them. “Yes ma’am.” He picked his schedule back up and walked back to his room. As he walked he passed Zuri and Adam and slipped them a pouted glare.
“What’s his problem?” Zuri made a face back at him.
Back in his room, Robert slammed the door and threw himself on his bed. This would be the first time he’d ever go to school. The last three years he had Cherry and Boss teach him what he needed to know to survive living on the streets, and before that he learned some things in the science lab. Was school like how shows and movies made it look? Drama about romance, teen girl fights in the hall, clique arguments? ‘What if I get made fun of and they all don’t like me?’ He sat up and frowned at himself in the mirror, then smirked after seeing his reflection. “Nah, I’m too handsome for anyone to make fun of!” He shook his head as he fed his ego.
Tumblr media
Robert was humming to himself as he brushed his hair, getting ready for the big day ahead of him. He had woken up two hours early and had already gone for his morning swim, his strength workout, taken a shower to smell fresh and clean and eaten breakfast. Since today he decided to switch up his look and dressed in a white button up shirt tucked into light seafoam green pants and finished the outfit with laced up white vans. One last brush and finished! He smiled proudly to himself and winked, “Looking good like always!~”
With a knock on his door, Zuri called out, “Are you done looking at yourself yet? We have to make our way to the school now. I wanted to hang out with Gigi before classes start!” Robert took one deep breath as he stared at his reflection, getting rid of any nerves that were trying to make their way up.
Opening his door he smirked at Zuri, “How can I not look at myself when I look this good?” He did a few poses to show off his pampered self while Zuri rolled her eyes and walked away. “Hey! I wasn’t done showing off how good I look!” Closing his door he ran after her and they, along with Adam, made their way to their private driver--which was curtesy of the Alliance. Within twenty minutes they were in front of Townsville High.
Getting out of the car Robert looked up at the school and was only shocked for a second. It was pretty big for a school--didn’t these things usually only have one building? There were multiple! But those were the only things that impressed the young teen. As the three of them walked up to Gigi who had been waiting for them, Robert looked around while Zuri elbowed Adam playfully causing him to blush. It was similar to a mall that there were teens everywhere, which was good for him because he enjoyed hanging out with people his age.
Gigi waved excitedly at Adam, who shyly waved back blushing and quickly made his way into the school alone. She looked at Zuri and Robert questioningly which they just shrugged and walked into the building together. “It’s really cool that you’re going to be going to school with us Robert!” She threw an arm over his shoulder and brought him in for a side hug. “Lucky for you, you have a cool and awesome older friend who can tell you the ins and out, the whose and what’s, and the best places to hang out!”
“Already covered all of that in the car ride here,” Zuri smirked as she too wrapped her arm around Robert’s neck. Gigi pouted and Robert laughed at her reaction.
“Don’t worry, Gigi,” Robert smiled at the blonde, “since I’m new I’m going to need some help. So please be my ‘cool and awesome older friend’ who makes sure I don’t make a fool of myself.” She nodded with a grin and threw an arm up in a cheer.
They showed Robert where his locker was, got his books from the school library, and showed him where his first class was. “This is your first period; 9th Grade English with Mr. Go,” Zuri gestured to the entrance of the classroom, “a warning before you see him. He looks big and intimidating, but he’s a big softie who is really into helping his students.” Gigi nodded along in agreement. “The rest of your classes are pretty close by, so just pay attention to the numbers by the classroom doors and hopefully you won’t get lost too much on your first day. We’ll see you at lunch, don’t make any trouble!” Gigi and Zuri waved as they walked to their first period class.
As he opened the door and walked in, all eyes were on the new kid in the classroom. Mr. Go stood up and Robert immediately realized why Zuri said he looked big and intimidating--the guy was huge! He walked up to him and reached out his hand, “Hello, you must be Robert! It’s great to have you in our class. Once the bell rings I’ll have you introduce yourself to the rest of the students and we’ll start our first day! If you ever need any help, please don’t be shy with asking me anything.” He pointed to a seat in the second to last row, “no one is currently assigned to that seat, so that’s where you’ll be sitting. Get your materials out and get comfortable because there’s about seven minutes before class starts.” He smiled, then walked back to his desk and took a seat.
Robert, unsure of what he needed, looked around the classroom and saw that some students had their notebooks, their copy of Lord of the Flies, and a pen or pencil so he copied them. He had noticed since he walked in that a few students were talking and looking at them, and he smirked at the thought of them talking about how good he looked. A few classmates came up and introduced themselves and made some small talk, but none of them were very memorable.
The “bell” sounded more like a loud buzzer and it made him jump. “Alright class, in your seats! You know when the bell goes off it’s time to start the day’s learning. I know you all have noticed a new face in our class, and I’m going to give him the floor so he can introduce himself.” Mr. Go gestured to Robert who nodded and stood up.
Loving the attention, Robert smiled as he spoke, “My name is Robert. I like swimming; I actually have swam a few times in local competitions where I used to live. I also making myself look good all the time, because I do not like looking like a mess in front of other people. I also love taking walks on the beach,” at his last statement he laughed to himself and winked at the student to his right, causing them to blush with a confused look on his face.
Mr. Go laughed as well as Robert sat down. “You seem like a character Robert, so I know you’re going to fit in well with the class. Now we’re going to start class by reading the next chapter in Lord of the Flies. Last class we finished chapter two, so can everyone please open to the start of chapter three.” As everyone opened their books and found the page, Hue’s eyes scanned the room, and his eyes met Robert’s. “Robert, since you’re new how about you take the honor and read the first page of chapter three?”
Nodding, Robert looks down at the page and began to read. The way he read was slow and choppy, and he made multiple pauses to slowly sound out words. It took him about seven minutes to read the entire page, and as Mr. Go thanked him with an awkward smile and moved on to picking the next student, Robert could feel the rest of his classmates talking about him and giving him weird looks. His ego was deflated and he felt weird, his shoulders felt tense and his stomach felt like it was flipping around inside of him. The rest of class didn’t get better, they had a group conversation about the book and he didn’t know how to take part in and they had to write and he wasn’t able to finish and was lucky to have at least wrote a page. First period ended, and Robert put his writing face down on Mr. Go’s desk and quickly waved goodbye before he had the chance to look at his work.
Second period went even worse than first, and by the time the lunch bell rang he was ready to go home. ‘I don’t get any of this. Why does any of this matter? Haven’t seen Adam or Zuri since before classes started, so how would they know if I skip my other two classes?’ He then remembered that the teachers took attendance and Zuri has most likely been hacking into the school’s system to make sure he had been in his classes. He groaned and not looking where he was going, accidentally bumped shoulders with another student. He looked at them and saw it was a girl with blonde hair and looked like someone poured 90s fashion all over her and dyed it all pink.
“I’m sorry,” the girl apologized.
“No, it was my fault. I’m sorry,” Robert mumbled and walked away before she could reply.
Having followed a crowd of kids to the cafeteria, he looked around and couldn’t find Gigi, Zuri, or Adam anywhere in the mob of teens. As he took out his phone from his pocket to text one of them, someone shoved him as they walked passed him causing him to drop his phone. “The hell!” He bent down to pick it up and tried to glare at the jerk that bumped him, but was shocked when he saw who it was. “Vain?!”
The said teen turned around and looked down at him, looked surprised for a second, then smirked. “Well, well, well, I didn’t know you went to Townsville High.”
Wiping the dirt off his pants, Robert shook his head as he stood up. “I didn’t before today. This is my first day here.”
“Hopefully not being a complete loser,” Vain circled around Robert, “because last time I saw you was last year at the local swimming meet behind me and losing.” He then leaned in to Robert and whispered in his ear, “do you think others would find it weird that you’ve been living in Townsville all this time but haven’t been attending school? Hopefully word doesn’t get out.”
Robert’s eyes flashed red for a second and he snapped at Vain, yelling out, “Why don’t you just mind your own business!?” The students that were around the two all turned and looked at them.
A hand was placed on Robert’s shoulder, pulling him back and he heard Zuri’s voice, “There you are Robert! Already making friends I see. Hey there, hope he wasn’t being too friendly with ya,” Zuri gave Vain a friendly yet deadly glare and he scoffed.
Before he could reply another familiar face walked up in the form of Mr. Go, “I heard some yelling over here. Not fighting now, are we?” He gave all three teens a look, and with a frown Vain shook his head.
“Why of course not, sir,” he then looked Robert and Zuri and then looked back at the adult. “If you don’t mind I’m going to go eat lunch.” Without getting a response he walked off.
Mr. Go shook his head as he looked at the two teens still in front of him. “Thank you, Zuri, for helping Robert here out. It’s good to see that he’s already made some friends while he’s been here--I know being new to a big school like this can be hard to adjust to.” Zuri and Robert shared an eyebrow raised look, if only he really knew. “Though if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to talk to Robert for a minute.”
Not having an excuse to argue Zuri nodded her head. “After you’re done talking to Mr. Go, you can come sit over there with us,” she gestured to a far off table where he finally spotted Gigi and left to go sit with her.
With a smile Robert looked up at his teacher, “What’s up Mr. Go?”
The man had a bead of sweat roll down the side of his face as he rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. “I saw this morning you were having a hard time in class, and I’ve talked to your second period teacher and found out you had a difficult time in their class as well. I know it’s your first day, but I could tell that you’re quite behind academically. So I...” he hesitated, feeling bad and mumbled, “I hate doing this.” He took a deep breath and looked Robert in the eyes, “I sent an email to your guardian. You’re not in trouble, but I don’t want you to fall even more behind.”
From there all Robert could think about was what would happen when he got home. How was Delta going to react?
--
Finally home, and instead of running to his room to hide, Robert walked into the kitchen and found Delta sitting and waiting at the dining table. Nervous, he sat down as well and waited for her to speak first.
“First day of school and already getting emails from your teacher? I know this is all new to you, but I never expected I would get news so quick.” She looked at him and noticed his head was down, his eyes looked sad, and his hands were clenched into fists. She picked up the mug that sat in front of her and took a sip of her tea. “I know you feel disappointed in yourself. You’re a crucial member of this team, and you feel you’ve let us all down by being so behind in school.” She placed a hand on his head and smiled, “But you haven’t.”
Robert looked up at her in surprise. He’d expected her to be mad, to get yelled at, or even a punishment of some kind. It’s what he was used to. But Delta wasn’t like that. She is understanding, she’s smart, she’s a good leader and knows how to help her comrades--that made Robert’s respect for her grow even more. Giving him a couple pats on the head she folded her hands in front of her.
“Luckily for you there are ways to help you out with your schooling. You’re going to go to tutoring after school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.” He looked at her in horror as she continued to speak, “it will be good for you to get the extra help so you can get to where you need to be.” Robert rubbed his face in annoyance; he understood why but it was just going to take time out of other things he could be doing. “I also heard that you almost got into a fight today during lunch--”
“Who told you--” Robert tried to interrupt her while he spoke but immediately stopped talking when she gave him a cold look.
She sighed. “Because of your ‘almost’ fight and the large amount of information the Alliance apparently failed to collect on you, you will be seeing a professional psychologist by the name of Jocelyn Drakken every other Tuesday.” Robert made a face at the therapist’s last name, wasn’t that-- “yes, she is Charles’ younger sister.” Delta got up from the table and pushed in her chair. Before leaving she told Robert, “I know you will be able to handle the additions to your schedule and will work hard to improve mentally and emotionally. You are an amazing member to this team and we wouldn’t be as strong without you. Just know that all of this extra work doesn’t give you an excuse to skip your strength and combat training.”
Robert groaned as she gave him another pat on the head and left the kitchen with a soft smile. She was happy that he had a teacher like Hue that cared about their students’ education.
‘That actually could have gone a lot worse,’ he thought to himself and smiled while he stared out the window to the beautiful view of the beach.
